ALEXANDRIA in ONTARIO, DIOCESI di. — In Canada, a suffragan diocese of Kingston. Erected on 23 January 1890 under the name of A. in America, changed on 15 November 1910 to A. in Ontario. The diocese comprises the counties of Glengarry and Stormont, situated in the northeastern part of this province. Statistics for 1948: 37,600 Catholics out of 59,300 inhabitants; 29 parishes with 37 diocesan priests.
