ALFONSO della CROCE. – Spanish Franciscan of the seventeenth century, born into a noble family at Valdemoro, died at Medina on 24 January 1631. He was several times local superior, provincial definitor, and general visitor of his Order.
In addition to many discourses on the Sunday Gospels and on the principal feasts of the year, he wrote: De la pureza del Apostol s. Pablo (Madrid 1599); Camino de la salvación (Salamanca 1625); Compendio de la vida espiritual (Salamanca 1625); Bibliotheca franciscana and Manual de Prelados, which remained unpublished.
