Alfonso de Isla

ALFONSO de ISLA. - Portuguese Franciscan of the 16th century. Nothing is known of his life. He published Tesoro de virtudes (Medina 1543, and elsewhere). This work, in 1574, was translated into Italian by Fra Giovanni M. Brancalupo, with the addition of an account by the Portuguese Antonio Olano on the martyrdom of Fra Andrea da Spoleto. Lengua de vida is also attributed to A., but perhaps it is the same work as the preceding one.
