ALFONSO de Isla. - A Portuguese Franciscan of the 16th century. Nothing is known of his life. He published *Tesoro de virtudes* (Medina, 1543, and elsewhere). In 1574, this work was translated into Italian by Friar Giovanni M. Brancalupo, with the addition of an account by the Portuguese Antonio Olano concerning the martyrdom of Friar Andrea da Spoleto. *Lengua de vida* is also attributed to A., but it may be identical to the preceding work.
