Also known as: Spanish: Alfonso V el Noble, Alfonso V de León; Latin: Alfonsus V

ALFONSO V, King of Asturias and León, called the Noble. - Great-nephew of Ramiro II, he reigned from 994 to 1027. Under him the great Christian victory of Calatañazor was won, and for the kingdom of León the "fueros" laws were drawn up, concerning namely the local immunities granted to cities, fiefs and ecclesiastical bodies. These laws were called "Alfonsine" after his name. He died fighting at Viseu.
