AMBROGIO, GRENKOV. — Hieromonk of the famous dissenting monastery of Optina-Pustyn near Kozelsk in central Russia, b. in 1812, d. in 1891. He was the last in a series of great startsy, much visited by the faithful of every social class. Although ailing for many decades, he nevertheless had the strength to found a convent at Samordino, where he died.
