ANALECTA SACRA TARRACONENSIA. – Journal of ecclesiastical sciences, begun in 1925 in Barcellona by the « Biblioteca Balmes », a center of higher religious culture established by the association « Foment de pietat catalana ». Its founder, Father Ignasi Casanovas (1872–1936), conceived it as an annual publication intended to include studies in the various sacred disciplines and a chronicle of the institution; from 1928, he introduced a systematic bibliography. In 1932, the publication took on the character of a journal, with several issues per year, in a smaller format, and was directed by the priest José Vives. It now tends to limit itself to the treatment of ecclesiastical history, particularly that of the States of the Crown of Aragon.
