CATHOLIC PONTIFICAL YEARBOOK. - Annual series begun in 1898 in Paris by the French prelate Msgr. Albert Battandier (1850-1921), published by the «Maison de la Bonne presse»; interrupted during the years 1940-47, it was resumed in 1948. Battandier, who had resided in Rome for many years, remained its principal editor until his death; for the subsequent volumes up to the fortieth, covering the years 1937-39, the work was continued by the Assumptionist Eutrope Chardavoine. The French series follows
the general scheme of the Pontifical Yearbook (v. ANNUARIO PONTIFICIO), but is enriched with historical and statistical information, repertories, contemporary chronicles, and obituaries. The text is accompanied by illustrations and portraits.
General tables of the first 20 volumes (1898-1917) of the A. p. c. have been published [Paris 1917].
