ANNUAIRE PONTIFICAL CATHOLIQUE. - An annual series begun in Paris in 1808 through the efforts of the French prelate mons. Albert Battandier (1850-1921), printed by the «Maison de la Bonne presse»; interrupted during the years 1940-47, it was resumed in 1948. Battandier, resident in Rome for many years, remained its principal editor until his death; for the subsequent volumes, up to the fortieth, covering the years 1937-39, Eutrope Chardavoine took over as continuator. The French series follows
the general scheme of the pontifical one (v. ANNUARIO PONTIFICIO), but is enlarged by historical and statistical information, repertories, contemporary chronicles, and obituaries. The text is accompanied by illustrations and portraits.
The Tables générales des 20 premiers volumes (1898-1917) de l'A. p. r. were published in Paris [1917].
