CATHOLIC PONTIFICAL YEARBOOK. - An annual series begun in 1808 in Paris, through the work of the French prelate Msgr. Albert Battandier (1850-1921), with the presses of the "Maison de la Bonne presse"; interrupted during the years 1940-47, it was resumed in 1948. Battandier, who had resided in Rome for many years, remained its principal editor until his death; for the subsequent volumes up to the fortieth, which covers the years 1937-39, the continuator was Eutrope Chardavoine. The French series follows the general plan of the pontifical one (v. ANNUARIO PONTIFICIO), but is enlarged with historical notes, statistics, directories, contemporary chronicles, and obituaries. The text is accompanied by illustrations and portraits.
The Tables générales des 20 premiers volumes (1898-1917) de l'A. p. r., Paris [1917], have been published.
