Italian Catholic Yearbook

ANNUARIO CATTOLICO ITALIANO. - Annual series published in Rome from 1922 to 1938 (a single volume covers the years 1936 and 1937). The initiative was undertaken by the Secretariat of Culture of the « Unione popolare tra i cattolici d'Italia »; when this was dissolved in that same year, 1922, publication was taken over for 1923 and 1924 by the « Giunta dell'Azione cattolica italiana », which succeeded it; and finally continued from 1925 to its end through the work of the « Comitato Fides romana ». Egitberto Martire always remained general editor of the A. (until 1926, together with Silvio D'Amico and Corrado Mezzana). The publication, which bore the subtitle: « small encyclopedia of the religious life of the dioceses of Italy and of Catholic organization », contains, besides the regular sections devoted to the hierarchy and to Catholic Action, chronicles, biographies, and various writings illustrating the religious movement, Catholic culture and art, the politico-religious events of the nation, with particular regard to the missions in the Italian colonies.
