FIDES. – A monthly journal of the "Pontifical Work for the Preservation of the Faith in Rome." Founded in 1900, when the proselytism of various Protestant groups was becoming evident even at the heart of Catholicism, it carried out active work in alerting the faithful to the insidious adversarial action, particularly in the fields of education and welfare. From 1920, under the direction of Igino Giordani, the journal underwent significant development and became a militant organ for the defense of the faith and Catholic principles, which were under threat in many parts of Italy by attempts at Protestant penetration.
