FIESCHI, NICOLA. - Cardinal, of the branch of the counts of Lavagna, b. c. 1456, d. 15 June 1524. He was a man of great virtue and integrity. He received the cardinalate on 30 May 1503 with the appointment as legate to Louis XII and to the Republic of Genoa. He held various bishoprics, sometimes concurrently, according to the custom of the time: Toulon (1484-87; 1515-24); Fréjus (1485-88; 1495-1524); Agde (1488); Embrun (1511); Ravenna (1518-24), where he struck coinage; Sabina (1521) and Porto (1522).
