FRONTESPIZIO, IL. — Monthly journal founded in Florence in 1929 by Piero Bargellini, under the auspices of Giovanni Papini. It was one of the most intellectually substantial, lively, and up-to-date journals, and constituted a brilliant affirmation of Catholic thought in the Italian literary and artistic sphere. In addition to Papini, numerous Catholic writers collaborated with it, including Francesco Casnati, Igino Giordani, Domenico Giulotti, Guido Manacorda, Ardengo Soffici, etc., as well as various fiction writers (including Nicola Lisi) and the group of the “hermetic” poets.
