ARINNA, Goddess of. - A. was a great city of the kingdom of the Hittites, identified with the present-day Kara-Sehir-Hujuk, near the thermal springs of Ujuz Hamman. The city was located at a distance of a few days' journey from the Hittite capital Hattusas.

In A. the greatest divinity of the kingdom of the Hittites was honored, "the sun of A.," a divinity to whom these splendid attestations are given: "You, sun of A., are the supreme god, you are the greatest; before you there is no other god who is equal to you... you are the god of the decision of destiny... you are the god of justice... To you, ... may the sacrifices be made and may the other gods have a share in them."
