ARINGHI, PAOLO. — Oratorian, born in Rome in 1600, died there in 1676. He was well known for the Latin translation of Bosio’s Roma sotterranea (v.), which he published in Rome in 1651, reworked in his own manner and with the addition of few things and many words: Roma subterranea novissima in qua post Antonium Bosium antesignanum... et celebres alios scriptores antiqua christianorum et praecipue martyrum coemeteria... multiplici eruditione declarantur opera et studio P. A. Romani. Unfortunately, this reworking caused Bosio’s original work and its merits to be almost forgotten.
