ARINGHI, PAOLO. - Oratorian, b. in Rome in 1600, d. there in 1676. He was very well known for the Latin translation of Bosio's Roma sotterranea (v.), which he published in 1651 in Rome, reworked in his own way and with additions of few things and many words: Roma subterranea novissima in qua post Antonium Bosium antesignanum... et celebres alios scriptores antiqua christianorum et praecipue martyrum coemeteria... multiplici eruditione declarantur opera et studio P. A. Romani. Unfortunately this reworking almost consigned to oblivion Bosio's original work and its merits.
