ARCHEO. – A., qui post discipulos domini episcopus fuit Leptitanae urbis (the present-day Homs-Lebda east of Tripoli), is identified in a Vatican codex (codex Vat. Reginae Suecicae, 130) as the author of a short treatise on the Paschal question. He maintained, against the Asians, that Easter should be celebrated only on Sunday. This question was being debated toward the end of the second century, around which time A. must have lived. He is the oldest African bishop known to us.
