AUDOMARO, saint. – Also called Omer, born in the environs of Coutances, died on 1 November 670. After embracing the monastic life at Luxeuil with his father Riulfo, he was elevated by King Dagobert to the episcopal see of Thérouanne (637). In his missionary activity he was assisted by three monks from Luxeuil, who founded with him the abbey of Sithin, later called St-Omer in his honor. After 30 years of apostolic labors that brought about the conversion of the pagan tribes of Morinia, he died in 670. Feast day: 9 September.
