AUDOMARO, SANTO

AUDOMAR, Saint. - Also called Omer, born in the vicinity of Coutances, died on November 1, 670. After embracing the monastic life at Luxeuil together with his father Riulfo, he was elevated by King Dagobert to the episcopal see of Thérouanne (637). In his missionary activity he was assisted by three monks of Luxeuil, who founded with him the abbey of Sithin, later called St-Omer in his honor. After 30 years of apostolic labors that brought about the conversion of the pagan tribes of Morinia, he passed away in 670. Feast day on September 9.
