AUDOMARUS, Saint. — Also called OMER, he was born near Coutances and died on 1 November 670. After embracing the monastic life with his father Riulfo at Luxeuil, he was elevated by King Dagobert to the episcopal see of Thérouanne (637). In his missionary activity he was assisted by three monks from Luxeuil, who with him founded the abbey of Sithin, later called St-Omer in his honor. After thirty years of apostolic toil that brought about the conversion of the pagan tribes of Morinia, he died in 670. Feast day: 9 September.
