BENEDICTINE NUNS OF THE PERPETUAL ADORATION OF CLYDE. — A female congregation which originated through the efforts of some nuns from the Benedictine monastery “Maria-Rickenbach” in Switzerland. In 1874, they traveled to the United States and established their residence in Nodaway County, near Clyde, Missouri. New houses were later founded in other centers, and today there are six such houses with 250 nuns. Alongside perpetual adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament, the sisters engage in educational and charitable apostolates within the parishes.
