BERTRIN, GEORGES. - French priest and writer, b. at St-Bazelle on 5 July 1851, d. at Marmande on 12 July 1924. He was first curate at Marmande, then professor at the seminary of Agen, where he distinguished himself by his profound learning and was therefore called to teach at the Catholic Institute of Paris.
He is the author of various and important works, such as: *Les grandes figures catholiques du temps présent* (1895), *Les questions homériques* (1898), *La sincérité religieuse de Chateaubriand* (1900), *St Laurent O'Toole* (1903), *La criminalité en France* (1904), *Histoire critique des événements de Londres* (1905), translated into various languages, *Sainte-Beuve et Chateaubriand* (1906), *L'exposition et la doctrine catholique* (1916), etc.
