BUONACCORSO (BONACURSUS) OF MILAN. - A figure from the second half of the 12th century, he served among the Cathar heretics of Milan as a teacher or doctor of their doctrine. After returning to the faith, he publicly denounced the errors of the sect; at a time when the esoteric teaching of Catharism and its factions was known to outsiders only fragmentarily, B.'s *Manifestatio*, committed to writing, served as the basis for controversial writers in compiling, between 1176 and 1190, a manual of scriptural refutation in which the errors of the Passagians (v.) and the Arnoldists (v. BRESCIA) were also addressed. B.'s brief but detailed exposition constitutes a first and valuable source both of the various doctrinal heads of the Lombard Cathar currents and of their mythical representations.
