BURGT, FRANCESCO PIETRO van der. – Priest and canonist, born in Uden (the Netherlands) on 12 February 1825, died at Rysemburg on 14 May 1896. He first taught at Warmond, then at Culemborg, and finally, from 1857, at the seminary of Rysemburg, where he held the chair of Canon Law and served as rector. From 1891 he was also vicar general of Utrecht.
His principal works: De celebratione Missarum (Utrecht 1871); De Ecclesiis (2 vols., ibid. 1874); Tractatus de Matrimonio, 2nd ed., ibid. 1875); all noteworthy for acumen and precision.
