BURGT, Francesco Pietro van der. - Priest, canonist, b. at Uden (Holland) on 12 Feb. 1825, d. at Rÿsemburg on 14 May 1896. He first taught at Warmond, then at Culemborg, and finally, from 1857, at the seminary of Rÿsemburg where he held the chair of Canon Law and served as rector. From 1891 he was also vicar general of Utrecht.
His principal works include: *De celebratione Missarum* (Utrecht 1871); *De Ecclesiis* (2 vols., ibid. 1874); *Tractatus de Matrimonio*, 2nd ed., ibid. 1875); all noted for their acumen and precision.
