CATERINA DI GESÙ - CATERINA DI S. AGOSTINO
in Paris, in repute for holiness, on 19 Feb. 1623. Prevened by grace at the age of eight, she entered the Carmelite convent in Paris (Faubourg St-Jacques) in 1608. Under the guidance of the venerable M. Maddalena di S. Giuseppe (M. Dubois de Fontaines), she made marvellous progress in perfection, and “the Lord raised her to an interior life so great and particular that only a few things can be said of her, because the greatest were hidden.” Endowed with extraordinary favours—visions, ecstasies, revelations, prophecy—and in continual union with God, she died “consumed by Him in soul and spirit.”
