CHAPPUIS, JEAN. - French canonist, who lived between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th. Little is known about him; he received his licentiate in law at the University of Paris. He oversaw two reprints of the Corpus iuris canonici; but his fame is linked to the compilation of the two collections of decretals Extravagantes Ioannis XXII and Extravagantes communes; v. CORPUS IURIS CANONICI.
