CHÉROT, HENRI. – Jesuit, born in Sens on 4 February 1856, died in Montana (Switzerland) on 25 June 1906. He entered the Society in 1875, took a degree in literature, and specialized in the history and bibliography of eighteenth-century France, which he illuminated with numerous articles published in the Parisian Etudes, the Revue Bourdalouce, and the Bulletin du bibliophile.
Among his most important works are: Etude sur la vie et les oeuvres du p. Le Moyne (Chartres 1887); St Louis de Gonzague étudiant (Paris 1891); Bourdalouce, sa correspondance et ses correspondants (ibid. 1899); Iconographie de Bourdalouce (3 vols., ibid. 1900–1903); Les seize bienheureuses carmelites de Compiègne (2nd ed., ibid. 1907).
