CHÉROT, HENRI. - Jesuit, born at Sens on 4 February 1856, died at Montana (Switzerland) on 25 June 1906. He entered the Society in 1875 and earned a degree in letters, specializing in the history and bibliography of 17th-century France, which he illuminated through numerous articles published in Études of Paris, the Revue Bourdaloue, and the Bulletin du bibliophile.
Among his most important works are: Étude sur la vie et les œuvres du p. Le Moyne (Chartres 1887); St Louis de Gonzague étudiant (Paris 1891); Bourdaloue, sa correspondance et ses correspondants (ibid. 1899); Iconographie de Bourdaloue (3 vols., ibid. 1900-1903); Les seize bienheureuses carmelites de Campiègue (2nd ed., ibid. 1907).
