CHÉROT, HENRI. - Jesuit, b. at Sens on 4 February 1856, d. at Montana (Switzerland) on 25 June 1906. Having entered the Society in 1875, he took his degree in letters, specializing in the history and bibliography of 18th-century France, which he illustrated with numerous articles that appeared in the Etudes of Paris, in the Revue Bourdalouce and in the Bulletin du bibliophile.
Among the most important works, the following are cited: Etude sur la vie et les oeuvres du p. Le Moyne (Chartres 1887); St Louis de Gonzague étudiant (Paris 1891); Bourdalouce, sa correspondance et ses correspondants (ibid. 1899); Iconographie de Bourdalouce (3 vols., ibid. 1900-1903); Les seize bienheureuses carmelites de Compiègne (2nd ed., ibid. 1907).
