COMANA. – Armenian city of Asia Minor, in the province of Pontus. In paganism it was renowned as a city governed theocratically by the goddess Enyo-Ma; its temples are also mentioned by Strabo. It was one of the oldest cities of Pontic Asia, with an episcopal see: it has been greatly celebrated for the holiness of numerous of its bishops. C. d'Armenia Minore is distinct from the city of the same name in Cappadocia, which was likewise an episcopal see.
