DENYSE (Denise, De Nyse, Dionysii), Nicola. - Theologian, b. at Beuzeville in Normandy toward the middle of the 15th century, d. at Rouen on 18 May 1509. Formerly a canon and vicar in the diocese of Coutances, he entered the Observant Friars Minor after 1470 in the convent of Valognes, distinguishing himself by his learning and virtue.

Among his works are remembered: the Opus in quattuor libros Sentent. or Resolutio theologorum (ed. Rouen end of 15th century-beginning of 16th, 1504-1506; Paris 1573, etc.) and the Summa or Gemmae praedicantium and various collections of Sermones. D. died in the reputation of sanctity and by popular acclaim was given the title of blessed.
