DONADONI, CARLO ANTONIO. - Theologian and preacher of the Conventual Minors, born in Venice on 15 Aug. 1672, died in Sebenico (Dalmatia) on 7 Jan. 1756. Admitted to the college of S. Bonaventura in Rome (8 May 1693), he completed there the higher courses in theology, obtaining the academic degrees. He taught philosophy and theology at the Studio of Padua, where he was regent, and at other Studia of the Order. In 1721 he was elected provincial minister of his province of S. Antonio, and on 12 Apr. 1723 bishop of Sebenico in Dalmatia. He governed with the utmost diligence, edifying his flock by word and deed.
Notable among his works are the Panegirici sacri (Venice 1707), the Morale di Aristotile a Nicomano (ibid. 1709), and La Cruzia in esame (ibid. 1740). He also wrote against Muratori’s work, Della regolata devozione dei cristiani, opposing the proposal to reduce religious feast days.
