DIONYSIUS. — A Greek monk (1318–90), who in 1374 rebuilt on Mount Athos a monastery that, from his name, was called “Dionysios.” For it he obtained in 1375, from Emperor Alexios, a golden bull that sanctioned concessions and privileges. This convent is, in chronological order, the 19th; in hierarchical order, the 5th. The dissident Church celebrates it on 25 June.
