EUTYCHIUS. – Melkite patriarch of Alexandria, in Arabic Saʿīd b. Baṭrīq, b. in Cairo in 877, d. in 940. He wrote annals from the creation up to 938, in which, amid legendary and uncertain elements, interesting notices are also to be found. His polemic against Nestorianism and Monophysitism drew forth from the contemporary Copt Severus ben al-Muqaffa his Book of the Councils (PO 3).
