IRISH MONTHLY. - Irish Catholic monthly review, founded in July 1873, intended for the laity and rich in various contributions presented in a lucid and brilliant style.

It received a notable impetus from the Jesuit Father M. Russel (1834-1912), its first director, who called as collaborators illustrious men in the field of thought and letters, including non-Catholics: among others the writer Oscar Wilde, who revealed himself through this review.
