KOZMINSKI, WACŁAW (HONORATUS). - Capuchin under the name of Fr. Onorato, born at Biała Podlaska in Poland on 16 October 1820, died at Nowe-Miasto on 16 December 1916. While devoting himself to his studies he came under the influence of the unbelieving current, but during a severe attack of typhus he recovered his faith. He was in prison for a year on a false charge of taking part in political conspiracies, and after his release he led a life of penance. Having completed his studies in architecture in 1858, he entered the Capuchins. Ordained a priest, he worked in Warsaw, Zakroczym and Nowe-Miasto.

An excellent preacher, confessor and spiritual director of great experience, he had charge of directing thousands of souls. He translated many Marian and Franciscan works. He founded and directed religious congregations for men and women, whose members, except for the Felician sisters, the Capuchin sisters and the Seraphine sisters, wore no religious habit, so as to have a readier moral and educational influence and also to avoid the persecutions of the Russian government, which at that time forbade the existence of religious congregations.

The proceedings for his beatification have been begun.
