LEONTIUS. - Armenian priest and historian who lived in the period 725-90, author of the History of the Apparition of Muhammad, written at the request of the prince Sciabuh Babrattuni.
In its 33 chapters it narrates the events from 632, first briefly and then, from 774, at length, describing the invasion of the Arabs in Armenia. The work is interesting in that it is the only Armenian historical document of the 8th century, although it is not always accurate.
