MALEVANSKY, SILVESTRO. — Russian bishop and theologian, b. 1828, d. 1908. After serving as rector of the Kiev Academy, in 1885 he was made bishop of Kanev. He devoted himself especially to the study of tradition and left a five-volume work entitled Compendium of Orthodox Dogmatic Theology, with a historical exposition of the dogmas (Kiev 1892–98).
