MARCIANO, saint. — Born into a noble Roman family that had emigrated to Constantinople at the beginning of the 5th century, he was piously educated and instructed. He entered the clergy of that city and was ordained a priest with the office of general steward of the church. Upon the death of his parents, he devoted himself with greater fervor to the life of perfection, contributing to the construction of several churches in Constantinople and providing a splendid example of virtue. He was buried in the church of S. Giovanni Battista. Feast, among the Greeks and Latins, on 10 January.
