MARCIANO, SANTO

MARCIAN, Saint. - Born into a noble Roman family that had emigrated to Constantinople at the beginning of the 5th century, he was piously raised and educated. He joined the clergy of that city and was ordained a priest with the office of general steward of the church. After the death of his parents he devoted himself with greater ardor to the life of perfection, working for the construction of several churches in Constantinople and giving a splendid example of virtue. He was buried in the church of St. John the Baptist. Feast, among the Greeks and Latins, on January 10.
