Remigio da Sant'Erasmo Maschat

MASCHAT, REMIGIO da SANT'ERASMO. – Bohemian canonist, born in 1692, died in 1747. A Piarist, he was superior general of the Order.

Highly versed also in music, he was professor of canon law and theology. In 1735 he published at Znaim a Cursus iuris civilis et canonici, which, written in a concise style and with solid scholarship, enjoyed great success; after the first edition had sold out, Ubaldo Giraldi prepared a new one under the title Institutiones canonicae (Ferrara 1760).
