GIRALDI, UBALDO DI SAN GAETANO

GIRALDI, UBALDO di San GAETANO. — Piarist, canonist. Born in Rome in 1692 and died there in 1775.

He was general assistant of his Congregation and apostolic examiner of the Roman clergy. Devoted to the study of canon law, he prepared a new edition of the Institutiones canonicae by his confrere Remigio Maschat of S. Erasmo (v.), to which he added supplements and updates (Ferrara 1760). Shortly thereafter he published the Expositio iuris pontificis iuxta recentiorem Ecclesiae disciplinam (Rome 1769), in which the sections of the Corpus Iuris Canonici are presented with brief commentary, followed finally by summaries of the Council of Trent and the Apostolic Constitutions. Another important work of his is the Animadversiones et additamenta ex posterioribus Summorum Pontificum constitutionibus et S. Congregationem decretis desumpta ad Augustinum Barbosa de officio et potestate parochi (there 1773).
