GIRALDI, UBALDO di San GAETANO. - Piarist, canonist. Born in Rome in 1692 and died there in 1775.
He was assistant general of his Congregation and apostolic examiner of the Roman clergy. Devoted to the study of canon law, he prepared the new edition of the Institutiones canonicae of his confrere Remigio Maschat di S. Erasmo (v.), adding additions and updates to it (Ferrara 1760). Shortly afterwards he published the Expositio iuris pontificis iuxta recentiorem Ecclesiae disciplinam (Rome 1769), in which the parts of the Corpus Iuris Canonici are set out with brief commentary, and finally the syntheses of the Council of Trent and of the apostolic constitutions. Another important work of his is the Animadversiones et additamenta ex posterioribus Summorum Pontificum constitutionibus et S. Congregationem decretis desumpta ad Augustinum Barbosa de officio et potestate parochi (there 1773).
