MONTERANO. - Ancient diocese (Manturia) west of Lake Bracciano beneath Monte Angiano.
It appears only in 649, and L. Duchesne held that it succeeded that of Forum Clodii and was later incorporated with that of Sutri (Lib. Pont., I, 483). Of ancient Monterano only a few ruins remain, the place having been uninhabited since the beginning of the 19th century.
