Monumenta Serica

MONUMENTA SERICA. - A publication, in annual volumes, of high sinological culture, founded in 1935 by Fr. F. Saverio Biallas, of the Society of the Divine Word, and published under the care of the Catholic University of Peking.

Its purpose is to present ample and copious material for the study of all that concerns the peoples, languages, and culture of China and the neighboring countries, not excluding the field of ethnology and prehistory. In addition to monographic articles, based on original research, the M. S. contain shorter miscellaneous notes, translations of sources and texts of particular importance, book reviews, and surveys of periodicals relating in any way to sinology.

¶ Up to 1940, 13 volumes have been published. The M. S. also have a separate series of monographs and more extensive studies.
