OMNIBENE.
- A master of theology, who lived around the middle of the 12th century, probably in Bologna, and is perhaps to be identified with the Bolognese canonist Omnibonus, author of the first Abreviatio decreti.
In any case, O. is the author of the Tractatus et quorundam sententiae collectae ex diversis auctoribus (cod. lat. Mon. 19.134, formerly belonging to the monastery of Tegernsee, ff. 148–228), a compilation based on the sentences of Abelardo, as well as on the Summa de Sacramentis and the Summa sententiarum. In his writings are found some of the errors for which Abelardo was condemned. It is supposed that O. wrote his works after Abelardo’s death, whom he cites several times.
