PROBINUS, Roman senator. — Consul in 489, he was together with Festus (v.) at the head of the opposition against Pope Symmachus. He received praise from Ennodius of Pavia (Opusc., VI: PL 63, 254), but his actions against Symmachus oblige us to make many reservations. The year of his death is unknown.
