RELIGIOUS OF THE HOLY UNION OF THE SACRED HEARTS. – Congregation founded at Douai (Cambrai) in 1828 by Fr. G. B. de Brabant.
Purpose: the Christian education of youth through elementary and secondary schools, with particular attention to the children of workers and to orphans. Since 1931 they have carried out missionary work in French Cameroon. The Congregation received the decree of praise on 30 May and definitive approval of its Constitutions on 17 June 1898. These were revised in 1925 according to the Code of Canon Law. Today there are 1,424 sisters in 100 houses.
