SCHNEIDER, EMILIE. - Of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Cross, born in the world as Giulia, b. at Haaren (near Aachen) on 6 Sept. 1820, d. at Düsseldorf on 21 March 1859.

She entered the Congregation at Liège in 1845, was elected in 1851 as first mistress of novices in the house of Aspel; then in 1852 superior at Düsseldorf, where, overcoming arduous difficulties, she transformed the community, so to speak. She was also favored with particular mystical graces, especially concerning devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The ordinary processes were begun in 1934.
