SCHRADER, KLEMENS - Jesuit, theologian, b. at Itzum (Hannover) on 20 Nov. 1820, d. at Poitiers on 23 Feb. 1875.
After completing his studies at the German College in Rome, he entered the Jesuits on 17 May 1848. After a brief
He wrote: Theses theologicae (series 1-7, Vienna 1861-1869; series 8, Poitiers 1874); De unitate Romana (I, Freiburg im Breisgau 1862; II, Vienna 1868); De triplici ordine, naturali, praeternaturali, supernaturali (Vienna 1864); De Deo creante (Poitiers 1875). He collaborated on Passaglia's work on the Immaculate Conception and had a large part in the publication Der Papst und die modernen Ideen (5 fascicles, Vienna 1864-67), in defense and clarification of the Syllabus. To his erudition, acuteness and precision he was not always able to join the desired brevity, which, united with his lively style, would have increased the effectiveness of his pages.
