SORELLE DELLA MISERICORDIA. – Founded
in the diocese of Verona in 1840 by Vincenza Poloni.
The decree of praise dates from 8 July 1931, and the definitive approval of the Constitutions from 5 Aug. 1941. Purpose: assistance to the sick, including those with contagious diseases, and the instruction and education of youth, especially the poor (hospitals, shelters, sanatoriums, care homes, orphanages, nursery schools, municipal schools, vocational schools). The mother house is in Verona. The religious today number 2,100 in 216 houses.
