VIE CATHOLIQUE, LA

LA CATHOLIC VIE. - French Catholic weekly, founded in 1924 by M.-F. Gay, with a broad circulation, with the aim of making known the activity of Catholics in all sectors of religious, social, scientific, literary, and artistic life.

The reports are divided into various columns according to subject. Notable are the special issues on the occasion of events or significant manifestations. Worthy of mention is the decided stance taken by La V. c. in defense of the Pope's actions on the occasion of the condemnation of Action française (q.v.). Since 1945, with a changed typographic layout, it has been published under the title La vie catholique illustrée.
