VIE CATHOLIQUE, LA. — French Catholic weekly, founded in 1924 by M.-F. Gay, intended for wide circulation and aimed at making known the activities of Catholics in every sphere of religious, social, scientific, literary, and artistic life.
The reports are divided into various sections according to subject. The special issues published on the occasion of significant events or demonstrations are noteworthy. Worthy of mention is the firm stance defending the Pope’s actions adopted by La V. c. on the occasion of the condemnation of Action française (v.). Since 1945, with a revised typographical format, it has appeared under the title La vie catholique illustrée.
