BUDGE, sir ERNEST ALFRED WALLIS. - Orientalista inglese, n. a Bodmin (Cornwall) il 27 luglio 1857; m. il 23 nov. 1934. Dal 1893 al 1924 fu conservatore del reparto delle antichità egiziane ed assire nel British Museum. Diresse importanti scavi a Assuan, Gebel Barkal, Ninive e in Mesopotamia.
Pubblicò molte opere di egittologia, tra cui History of Egypt (8 voll., Londra 1902); Book of the Dead (3 voll., ivi 1898; ivi 1905); The Gods of the Egyptians (2 voll., ivi 1904); Egyptian Heaven and Hell, Osiris and the Hell (ivi 1905); Osiris, and the egyptian Resurrection (2 voll., ivi 1911); The Mummy (Edimburgo 1925); From fetish to God in ancient Egypt (Oxford 1934).
