5 § 3. E tuttavia, per maggior cautela, tutti e singoli gli statuti e le ordinazioni stabiliti e ordinati dai medesimi chierici moderni, e concessi e indulti agli stessi camerario, chierici e loro collegio, come sopra detto, con l'autorità e nel tenore predetti, di nuovo stabiliamo e ordiniamo, concediamo e indulgiamo, e vogliamo e comandiamo che siano inviolabilmente osservati per i perpetui tempi futuri. Non ostante ecc. I tenori invece delle lettere e dei mandati di Innocenzo e di Giulio, nostri predecessori, e dei nostri, nonché delle costituzioni e ordinazioni predette, il medesimo Pontefice approva tutte quelle cose insieme con le bolle che di seguito si inseriscono, e conferma tutti i privilegi del camerario e dei chierici;

Leo, bishop, servant of the servants of God, for the perpetual memory of the matter.

2 Preamble. Just as a prudent father of a household arranges and orders all things that are in his house with provident moderation to his honor and glory; so also we, who, though unworthy by merit, have been made by that same supreme Father of that household dispensers thereof, ought to attend to his care with studious solicitude in such manner that in that household, especially as regards those things which pertain to the Roman Curia and its officials, most particularly the Apostolic Camera, to which, for the preservation of the state of the Roman Church, diverse burdens fall, a right order may be observed, and the offices themselves may be exercised diligently, accurately and decently; and that those who come to the same Curia for the transaction of business may rejoice in the desired expedition; and moreover, those things which we have found to have been providently done and ordained for this purpose, we ought to strengthen with the protection of our approval and anew to establish and ordain, as we perceive it to be salutarily expedient in the Lord.

3 § 1. Indeed, since we have learned that after our predecessor of happy memory, Pope Eugenius IV, attending to the ordinances of the aforesaid Camera, approved by the Apostolic See, for the conduct of the spiritual and temporal affairs of all churches and monasteries, as well as of cities, towns, lands, castles, fortified places, villages and places of the said Roman Church immediately or mediately subject, had confirmed by his letters, from certain knowledge, certain statutes, ordinances and chapters issued by the presidents of the said Camera at that time, the beloved sons, the present presidents of the same Camera, being intent upon its happy preservation and prosperous direction and that of its officials, desiring, as much as they can with God, that those things which they conduct in the said Camera be done justly and laudably, to the praise of almighty God and the preservation of the state of the Roman Church and the relief of all those to whom it pertains in any way, having had mature deliberation upon this among themselves, adhering to the aforesaid statutes and ordinances and mandates, both those granted by our predecessors of pious memory, Pope Innocent VIII and Julius II, as well as by us in the form of a motu proprio, have unanimously made and issued certain constitutions and ordinances, among other things, those which concern and dispose what ought to be done and exercised both by the clerics and other officials of the same Camera for the time being, and other reasonable and honest provisions, as is more fully contained in the letters of Eugenius and the mandates of Innocent, our predecessors, and ours, as well as in these constitutions and ordinances, the tenors of all of which we have caused to be inserted word for word in the present document.

4 § 2. We, desiring that the said letters, mandates, constitutions and ordinances remain unshaken, and that the clerics and other officials aforesaid may exercise their offices with decency and tranquility, by our motu proprio, not at the instance of the petition offered by the said clerics or others on their behalf in this matter, but from our mere deliberation and from certain knowledge, the aforesaid letters, mandates, constitutions and ordinances and whatever is contained in them, as well as all and singular privileges, faculties, graces, concessions and indults granted to the camerlengo and clerics of the same Camera for the time being, and to their college otherwise by Boniface, Urban, Martin, Callistus, Sixtus IV of happy memory and by whatsoever Roman Pontiffs, our predecessors, and the aforesaid See, and also by us in any manner whatsoever conceded and confirmed, the tenors of all of which, as if they were inserted word for word in the present document, we wish to be held as expressed, by apostolic authority, by the tenor of the present document we approve and confirm, and we fortify with the protection of this present writing, and we add to them the strength of perpetual firmness, supplying all and singular defects of law and fact, if any perchance have intervened in the same.

5 § 3. And nevertheless, for greater caution, all and singular things established and ordained by these same modern clerks, and granted and indulged to the same camerlengo, clerks and their college, as aforesaid, by the authority and tenor aforesaid, we do anew establish and ordain, grant and indulge, and we will and command that they be inviolably observed in perpetuity for all future times. Notwithstanding etc. Moreover, the tenor of the letters and mandates of Innocent and Julius, our predecessors, and of ours, as well as of the constitutions and ordinances aforesaid, the Pontiff approves all those things together with the bulls to be inserted below forthwith, and confirms all privileges of the camerlengo and clerks;

6 And again all things are established.

BULLS OF THE ROMAN

7 of which the following are and are such, namely:

8 § 4. Pope Innocent VIII etc. As (1).

9 § 5. Pope Julius II etc. Ex iniuncto (2).

10 § 6. Pope Leo X etc. Licet felicis (3).

11 § 7. And because, as it is written, on account of the variety of times which pass, the modern clerks of the Camera, beloved sons, desiring, as much as they can with God, that those things which are done in the Camera itself under this Pontiff be done justly, integrally and laudably, with the divine aid of Christ our Saviour, who is the wisdom of the Father and the sun of justice invoked, so that those things which would be established below might provide for his praise and the state of the Holy Roman Church, and just relief for all those to whom it matters in any way, have unanimously issued the constitutions written below to be perpetually valid in the same Camera.

12 Let no one therefore etc.
