Ad Multos Annos

AD MULTOS ANNOS. - A greeting and wish for long life that a consecrated bishop addresses to his consecrator at the end of the consecration ceremony, repeating it three times, now with ever greater raising of the voice and kneeling as he approaches the consecrator, who stands on the Gospel side. The same greeting is addressed once only by an abbot to the bishop who has blessed him.
