AD MULTOS ANNOS

AD MULTOS ANNOS. — A greeting and wish for long life that the consecrated bishop addresses to his consecrator at the end of the consecration ceremony, repeating it three times, each time with a progressively higher voice and kneeling as he approaches the consecrator, who is standing on the Gospel side. The abbot addresses the same greeting, once only, to the bishop who has blessed him.
