ADORATRICI del S.mo SACRAMENTO. - The Congregation was founded at Rivolta d'Adda by the priest Francesco Spinelli following a split that arose over a financial collapse in the Institute of the Sacramentine Sisters, which had sprung up at Bergamo in 1881 through the work of Geltrude Comensoli, encouraged by Spinelli himself. The sisters have as their purpose the adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the education and instruction of young women, and the care of the sick. The Institute has the approval of the Holy See and today numbers over 1000 sisters in 120 houses.
