COMENSOLI, Gertrude. — Born at Bicino on 10 Jan. 1847, died at Bergamo on 18 Feb. 1903. From a poor family, she worked for 13 years as a domestic servant, constantly giving examples of piety, modesty, and charity toward the poor. Devoted to the Eucharist, she founded, together with Fr. Francesco Spinelli, the Institute of the Sacramentines (v.). She endured many adversities and calumnies with patience, but in the end she was able to see the triumph of her work. The cause for her beatification has been introduced before the Sacred Congregation of Rites.
