COMENSOLI, GERTRUDE. — Born at Biceno on 10 January 1847, died at Bergamo on 18 February 1903. Of a poor family, she worked for 13 years as a domestic servant, continually giving examples of piety, modesty, and charity toward the poor. Deeply devoted to the Eucharist, she founded, together with Fr. Francesco Spinelli, Sacramentine (v.). She patiently endured many adversities and calumnies, but at last was able to see the triumph of her work. Her cause for beatification has been introduced before the S. Congregation of Rites.
