Comensoli, Gertrude

COMENSOLI, GERTRUDE. - Born at Biceno on Jan. 10, 1847, died at Bergamo on Feb. 18, 1903. Of a poor family, she worked for 13 years as a domestic servant, giving constant examples of piety, modesty and charity toward the poor. Deeply devoted to the Eucharist, she founded, together with Fr. Francesco Spinelli, the Institute of the Sacramentine (v.). She patiently endured many adversities and calumnies, but at last was able to see the triumph of her work. The cause of her beatification has been introduced before the Sacred Congregation of Rites.
