COMPASSIONIST SISTERS, SERVANTS OF MARY. – Congregation founded by Sister Maria Maddalena Starace at Castellammare di Stabia in 1871. The sisters devote themselves to the education of young people in boarding schools, orphanages, schools, nursery schools, and workshops, as well as to catechetical work and assistance in shelters for the poor. The institute currently has 22 houses and more than 300 sisters.
