AGRICOLA (BAUER), FRANZ. – German theologian and controversialist, born around the middle of the sixteenth century at Lohn, near Aldenhoven, died at Sittard on 4 December 1624. Having completed his studies at Cologne and Leuven, he subsequently served as parish priest at Rödingen, parish priest and canon at Sittard, and archpriest of the ecclesiastical district of Sisteren. He published numerous apologetic-dogmatic writings, in Latin and German, on questions concerning the controversies of the Reformation, among which we recall: De cultu ac veneratione sanctorum; De primatu D. Petri Apostoli et successorum eius, romanorum Pontificum.
