AGRICOLA (BAUER), FRANZ. — German theologian and polemicist, born around the mid-16th century in Lohn, near Aldenhoven, died in Sittard on 4 December 1624. After completing his studies in Cologne and Leuven, he successively served as parish priest in Rödingen, parish priest and canon in Sittard, and archpriest of the ecclesiastical district of Süsteren. He published numerous apologetic-dogmatic writings in Latin and German on issues pertinent to the controversies of the Reformation, including: *De cultu ac veneratione sanctorum*; *De primatu D. Petri Apostoli et successorum eius, romanorum Pontificum*.
